Edward Seubert, 88, of Salem, NH passed away peacefully Wednesday evening after a short illness. His loving wife of 64 years, Hazel, was at his side.
He was born February 24, 1919 in Lawrence, MA, Ed was the son of Edward and Madelyn Seubert. After proudly serving in the Navy aboard the USS Augusta during WWII, Ed returned to Lawrence where he continued his work as a textile designer at the Wood Worsted Mill and graduated from Lowell Technological Institute. He later worked for IBM and Bell Labs (later known as Raytheon) installing computerized accounting systems, computer programming, and as a computer aided draftsman.
In 1950 he moved to Salem, NH and later joined the police department as a part-time officer where he served the community of Salem for 25 years. Ed was a member of the VFW Post 8546 & the Military Order of the Cooties, and he was also a member of the Police Relief Association in Salem.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Gayle Gulaya & her husband Subhash of N. Stonington, CT, son David of Salem, and daughter Lyn Mercer of Salem. He also leaves three grandsons, Erik Tine & his wife Andrea, Adam Mercer of Salem, and Rajan Gulaya of Winter Park, FL. He also leaves his beautiful twin great granddaughters Liana & Alexia Tine.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 AM to 12 Noon, followed by a funeral service at 12 noon at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. Cremation will follow.
