A. Seymour Parker, M.D.

A. Seymour Parker of Needham, formerly of Wellesley Hills, died on November 20 at North Hill.

Born in Buffalo, New York on March 20, 1912, he was raised in Washington, D. C. He graduated from Gonzaga High School in 1930, from Georgetown University with a B.A. degree in 1934 and from Georgetown University Medical School in 1938. After an internship and residency in medicine, pediatrics and obstetrics at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, he completed a fellowship at the Lahey Clinic in Boston.

Dr. Parker served on the staff of the Lahey Clinic for thirty-seven years in the Department of Internal Medicine, sub-specializing in endocrinology.
During this time he was also a staff member in internal medicine at the New England Baptist, New England Deaconess, Corey Hill and Brooks hospitals.

He was a Board Member of the Department of Internal Medicine, The American College of Physicians, The American Diabetic Association, The New England Allergy Association, The American Clinical Research and The New England Allergy Society.

Following his retirement from the Lahey Clinic in 1977, Dr. Parker established a part-time practice in internal medicine, allergy and dermatology in Peabody. He retired in October, 1988.

Dr. Parker spent twelve years as a coach and manager in the Little League and Babe Ruth leagues in Wellesley and was active in the Wellesley football leagues.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lovering; one daughter, Anne P.
Stommes and her husband, Leon, of Framingham; three sons, Stephen L. Parker and his wife, Linda of Sudbury; David R. Parker and his wife, Karen, of Claremont, NH; Dr. James Parker and his wife, Leah, of Sudbury; five grandchildren, Benjamin and his wife Tracey, Stacey, Andrew, Madeline and Katharine; and two great grandchildren, Logan and Mason. He was the brother of the late Mildred P. Dougherty.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 24 at 12 noon at St. Paul's Church in Wellesley. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
