Sawyer --- Jonathan Sawyer III of Brookline died unexpectedly on Wednesday November 21, 2007. Jon was born in Boston and was raised in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard. His occupation for over 20 years was with the Vineyard Gazette as a Linotype Printer and was currently employed by Boston College. For many years he was a volunteer firefighter for the Edgartown Fire Department. Jonathan is survived by his wife Helene Markey, his three children: Thomas and his wife Beth, Susan (Schofield) and her husband Shawn all of Martha’s Vineyard and Aaron Sawyer of Brookline. His sisters Jennifer Stix of Vineyard Haven and Jessica Sawyer of Rockville, MD. Jon had five grandchildren Shane, Shivonne and Spencer Schofield and Ryan and Meghan Sawyer. He will be dearly missed by his niece Emily and nephew Jeff as well as his extended family: The Thurmond’s, Swinchatt’s, Markey’s and Sewards. Jon was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox from 1941 to 2007 and was elated to have been a part of Red Sox Nation for both World Series.
Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Monday November 26th at 9am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Chestnut Hill at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 3-7pm. Interment private.
