Obituary

Sister Eliane Lemieux, PM, (Sr. Louise de Ste Marie) 92, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, St. Joseph Residence, Manchester, died at her residence on November 20th, 2007.
Sister Eliane was born on February 10, 1915, at St-Edouard-des Mechins, PQ, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Philippe and Marie-Louise (Crousset-Harrison) Lemieux. She entered the Presentation of Mary Congregation in St. Hyacinthe, PQ, in 1934. Sister Eliane made her first Profession in 1936 and her final Profession in 1941. Two years later, 1943, she became an American citizen.
She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Rivier College in Nashua, NH.
Sister Eliane was an educator serving as a teacher in the New Hampshire Catholic schools. She taught many years in the North Country in Berlin and Gorham, also in Concord, Hudson, and Manchester. She was transferred to Rhode Island and taught in Artic and Phenix. She taught the CCD program in both the Berlin and Manchester schools. She semi-retired in 1981 to undertake podiatry and served the community as podiatrist until her retirement in 1996.
Family members include her brother, Roland Lemieux of Berlin, CT; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday November 24, 2007 in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial followed in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson.
