Carl F. McAllister, Sr., 70, of Tifton died Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Gerald Purvis will officiate with burial to follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James McAllister, Jerome McCann, B. J. Gray, Tony Gray, Chad Morris and Darren Hubbell. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. McAllister was born on May 30, 1937 in Tift County and was the son of James Cauley McAllister and Erma Lou Bowen McAllister, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, James Otis McAllister, John Henry "Buck" McAllister and Samuel Myers McAllister; and two sisters, Erma Jean Yarbrough and Mary Ford. He was retired from Colony Cookware and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. McAllister is survived by his wife, Rosalie Hall McAllister of Tifton; three sons, Carl F. "Pete" McAllister, Jr. of Tifton, Jerry W. McAllister of Tifton and James W. McAllister of Irwin County; two daughters, Patty McCord of Valdosta and Erma Mae McAllister of North Carolina; two sisters, Marie McBrayer of Tifton and Betty Rainey of Ideal; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
