Joseph M. Rocha, 70, of Mattapoisett died January 9, 2003 at Mediplex Rehabilitation Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband Nancy E. (Silveira) Rocha and son of the late Manuel and Deolinda (Cabral) Rocha.
Mr. Rocha was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford before moving to Mattapoisett in 1966.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett.
Mr. Rocha was formerly employed by Morse Twist Drill for 36 years as a production manager where he served as the last employee before its closing.
He enjoyed sports, woodworking, cooking, playing golf and spending time with his family. He played CYO basketball in his youth and played softball and golf for Morse Twist Drill.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph Rocha, Jr., and his wife Lisa, of Bellingham; 2 daughters, Lisa Fuller, and her husband John, of Rochester and Melissa Farias, and her husband Paul, of Fairhaven, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Delvina Freitas of New Bedford, Antone Rocha of Medway, MA, Manuel Rocha of Stockton, CA and Mary Haggett of California; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Fuller, Katrina Farias, Ryan Farias and Bridget Farias; a brother-in-law, Leonard A. Silveira of New Bedford; a sister-in-law, Shirley Bernier, and her husband John, of Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd., (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Monday, January 13th at 10 AM.
Visiting hours Sunday, January 12th from 3-7 PM.
Interment St. John's Cemetery.
