Obituary

Charles E. Paradzick, Sr., 87 of Derry, NH died November 19, 2007 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. Mr. Paradzick was born in Springfield, MA on September 15, 1920 the son of Otto and Minnie (Hartig) Paradzick. He moved to Derry in 1981, formerly living in West Springfield and Agawam, MA. He served with the US Army Air Corp during WWII and was a former member of the Agawam VFW. He was employed all his life as a butcher, meat cutter and meat manager. He was employed at Lewis Beef Co., Armour Co., as well as several wholesale meat companies in Mass., Conn., and Ohio among others. He also worked for Canobie Lake Market in Salem following his retirement. He was an avid golfer, was active in sports and had played semi-pro football for the Agawam Brownies in the early 1950’s.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Avilda (Goyette) Paradzick of Derry, one son, Charles E. Paradzick, Jr. and his wife Janice of Derry, two grandsons, James W. Paradzick of Derry, Charles E. Paradzick III of Scottsdale, AZ, three great granddaughters, Nina, Natalie and Liliana, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Otto Paradzick Jr. and Earl Paradzick.
Following cremation, memorial calling hours were held on Friday November 23, 2007 from 6 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial will be at a later date in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, NH Affiliate, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
