Burke of Brockton, January 8, 2003, William F. Burke, 84 years. Devoted husband of Margaret R. (Jones) Burke. Beloved father of William F. Burke, Jr. and his wife Mary of Milton; Mary T. Morris and her husband Robert of Braintree; Elizabeth A. Smith and her husband Robert of Fayetteville, NC; Kathleen A. Deoudes and her husband Nick of Queenstown, MD; Eileen M. McDonough and her husband William of Franklin; Cmdr. Robert E. Burke, USN and his wife Erica of Ft. Meade, MD; and the late Margaret Mary Burke.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in St. MargaretChurch at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the John J. Burke Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Bank, 1265 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301.

Obituary

Mr. Burke died Wednesday at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, son of the late William J. and Mary (Sheehan) Burke. Lifelong resident of Brockton. Graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1937 and graduate of Brockton Business College. During WW II he served in the US Army with the Century Division in European African Theater as a Platoon Sgt. and receiving a Bronze Star Medal. He recently retired as a health agent for the East Bridgewater Board of Health and he previously worked as a mail handler and safety officer for the Brockton branch of the US Post Office. Many years ago he owned and operated the Campello Cash Market. Founding member of the Enterprise Club. Long time communicant and usher of St. Margaret Church. He enjoyed many trips to Ireland to visit family.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret R. (Jones) Burke, 2 sons, William F. Burke, Jr. and Robert E. Burke, 4 daughters Mary T. Morris; Elizabeth A. Smith; Kathleen A. Deoudes and Eileen M. McDonough, 16 grandchildren, a sister Eileen Jablonski of Lakeville and several nieces and nephews.

Father of the late Margaret Mary Burke and brother of the late John and James Burke.
