Ms. Patricia "Pat" Green Carter was born May 20, 1947 to Mrs. Geneva Kirby Harris and the late, Floyd Green Sr. in Madison County, Alabama. Pat was the apple of her mother's eye and as the first grandchild, a delight for her grandparents, the late William and Mary Kirby.
As a youngster, Patricia accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Lakeside United Methodist Church.
Patricia was a graduate of Council High School, where she reigned as Homecoming Queen. She attended the Spelman College of Atlanta, the School of Medical Technician Washington, DC, Alabama A&M University and the North Alabama College of Commerce.
Pat was married to Lincoln Carter and their union was blessed with a glorious gift, daughter, Sixx Leah-Patrice.
God equipped Patricia with a beautiful, vibrant, and melodious voice that she loved to share. Pat's life's dream was to sing and she began publicly performing doing her Hight School and College Years. Pat was one of the first performers to participate in the Atlanta Jazz Festival and one of the first African American performers to grace the stage of the Huntsville Hilton. Her love for music and performing is a legacy that she leaves for her daughter, whose career she played an active and vital roll.
Patricia spent many years not only singing but working in Washington, DC for the U.S. Congress as an Executive Secretary. After relocating home to Huntsville, she worked as an administrative assistant for various companies.
Following her heart and her desire to be near her daughter, during the Summer of 2007 Pat relocated to Los Angeles, California, where on Thursday, November 8, 2007 in the loving arms of God, she found rest, peace, and a choir that welcomes her harmonizing voice with outstretched arms.
Wonderful and loving memories of Pat will forever remain in the hearts of her entire family, but especially her daughter, Sixx Leah-Patrice Carter of Los Angeles, CA; mother, Geneva Kirby Harris of Huntsville, AL; siblings: Vernita McNeil (Marshall) of Franklin, TN, Floyd Jr. and Ronnie both of Huntsville, AL; aunt, Mrs. Odell Jefferson of Chattanooga, TN and uncle, Mr. Roy (Christine) Kirby of Huntsville, AL, many cousins, other relatives and friends.
