“Stoney“ E. Stone, 72 , U.S. Army, retired, a resident of Hudson, NH, formerly of Whitman, died at his home, November 17th. He was the husband of Aletta A. (Viniskas) Stone. Born Theron E. “Stoney” Stone, he was the beloved son of the late Theron C. and Mary (Marshall) Stone. He was born in Nellis, WV, he made his home in Whitman for 27 years before retiring to New Hampshire in 2003. ”Stoney” was a member of the VFW Post 697 in Whitman and delivered “Meals on Wheels” in that town. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and gardening, but most of all he loved his four year old granddaughter Amelia, who was the apple of his eye.
He is survived by his beloved wife Aletta A. (Viniskas) Stone of Hudson NH., his daughter, Tanya J. (Stone) Riley and her husband Daniel, his granddaughter Amelia M. Riley, all of Hudson, NH., his brother Russell Anderson of Ohio, six sisters; Juanita Humphries, Faye Gregory , Brenda Luporter, Rose Strunk , all of Arizona, Patricia McWhirt of California and Rebecca Ailes of West Virginia. He was also the brother of the late Troy F. Stone.
A military funeral service will be held Wednesday November 21st at 9:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rt 58 at the Rotary Circle), Whitman, MA, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman, MA. Interment will follow at 12:45PM in the MASS VA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Visiting hours Tuesday November 20th 4-8 PM.
