Obituary

Mother Elizabeth Hayes was born April 13, 1908, in Huntsville, Alabama, to the late Add White and Lizzie Pruitt White. She resided in Huntsville until 1997. Due to illness, she relocated to Pontiac, Michigan. There she resided nine years until her prayer was answered in March 2007, to return home to her beloved city, family, and place of worship.

She proudly boasted of her membership to St. James Primitive Baptist Church, to which she joined at 15 years of age. She faithfully served on the Mothers’ Board, and Sisters’ Aide Society.

She possessed “undeniable” gifts of servitude, cooking, and sewing. She became a Mother figure to many A&M college students - providing room & board, words of wisdom, hot cooked meals, and her infamous pound cakes.

She is lovingly remembered by her family for her overwhelming love and affection. She was like a gentle breeze on a warm summer’s eve. She will be greatly missed.

Mother Hayes leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Francida Moore (Michigan); one son, Add Davis (Louisiana); one sister, Tommy Babb (Nashville, TN); six grandchildren: Brenda Moore, Calvin Moore, Janice Moore, Larry Moore, Denise Moore, and Phillip Moore (Michigan); 13 Great-Grandchildren; 16 Great-Great Grandchildren; special friends: Herbert Gray and Reaver Brown, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of loving friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Elizabeth Hayes will be held at 1200 Noon, Saturday, November 24, 2007 from St. James Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Jones officiating. Interment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. The remains of Ms. Hayes will be in the church one hour prior to funeral time.
