Methuen, Ma. – Patrick J. Perrotta, 94, passed away on November 15, 2007 at the Lawrence General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born and educated in Methuen, Patrick was the son of Joseph and Olympia Perrotta.
Patrick was the widower of his beloved wife Ann (Sarcione) Perrotta.
After attending Methuen schools, he worked as a welder at the Boston Navy Yard. Later he worked for the United Shoe Machinery Corporation as a machinist. Patrick was honored as being the longest working employee at that time, having given more than 35 years of service.
As a young man, Patrick played a banjo in a local band at nearby clubs. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was a member of an area softball team. Upon Patrick’s retirement he found a late in life passion for golf which he enjoyed with his brothers. He held a membership at Crystal Springs Golf Club.
Patrick’s pride and joy was his wife of 60 years with whom he spent his later years traveling.
Mr. Perrotta was a communicant of Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen where he regularly attended the Saturday 4 o’clock Mass.
Patrick is survived by two children; Dennis P. & wife Carol Perrotta of Pelham, NH, and Patricia A. Del Signore, wife of Vincent of Methuen, and brother Albert & wife Rose of Methuen; five grandchildren Debra & husband Jay Setterlund, Julie-Ann & Michael Savoie, Christine & Christopher DeSimone, Cheryl & Brian Haidaichuk, and Steven & wife Melinda Perrotta, and three greatgrandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, and Owen and several nieces and nephews. Survivors also include three sisters-in-law, Emily Perrotta of California, Ida Perrotta of Salem, NH, and Michelina Perrotta of Windham, NH.
A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday morning at 10:30 A.M. in Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in Bellevue Cemetery of Lawrence.
Friends may call on Monday from 3-7 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
