Mr. Frederick A. Spires, 70, of Hampstead, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at his home, Thursday morning, November 15th, 2007.
He was born on December 29th, 1937 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to the late Frederick F. and Teresa M. (DiLonardo) Spires. Fred graduated from Central Catholic in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Class of 53.
Fred served in the United States Air Force for over 23 years, including a tour in Vietnam and several European posts. Mr. Spires worked for the United States Postal Service in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
He had several hobbies; he enjoyed and was looking forward to pursuing, one of which was golf. He also wanted to go on a cruise and to Hawaii with his bride. Unfortunately, because of ill health, that never materialized. However, he turned to his love of reading and really enjoyed the computer where he routinely kept in touch with his many friends. He maintained his sense of humor throughout his long battle with cancer and his courage and strength was reinforced by the love and support of his family and loyal friends for which he was so very grateful.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean (Hawthorn) Spires.
He is survived by his children, Mark and wife Susan of Bow, N.H., Kim Borchers and husband Lenny of Windham, NH, Lisa Lombardi of Haverhill, MA. and Lesley J. LaPerle and husband Reginald of Bow, N.H.;
brothers: Kenneth of Seville, OH, and Wayne of Haverhill, MA,
sister: Deborah A. Stanisewski, and nine grandchildren.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 20th, 2007 at 12:00 noon in Saint Anne's Church in Hampstead, New Hampshire.
Burial will take place at a later date.
