George S. Donohue, 77, of Delray Beach, FL and Falmouth, MA died Friday November 9, 2007 at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Rae Ellen (MacKenzie) Donohue.
Born in New York, NY, the son of the late Samuel and Margaret (Sheldon) Donohue, he lived in New Bedford and Falmouth for many years before moving to Florida.
Mr. Donohue was formerly employed as a technician for the New England Telephone Company until his retirement.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Marine Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Falmouth and the Telephone Pioneers. He was awarded the Vail Medal for bravery from the New England Telephone Company.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Timothy Donohue of Marion, Maureen Fischer of Framingham, Sharon Donohue of Reading, and Marguerite Donohue of Fairhaven; and six grandchhildren.
He was the father of the late John D. Donohue.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-7 PM.
