Winfield J. Freeman, 80, of Fairhaven, died Tuesday January 7, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Laura (Sylvia) Freeman.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Antone and Angela (Caneca) Freeman, he had lived in Fairhaven for most of his life.
Mr. Freeman was formerly employed as a service technician for the New Bedford Gas & Edison Light Company until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra Rothwell of Fairhaven, and Nancy Babineau, and her husband James, of East Freetown; a sister, Florence Gibson of South Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A private Committal Service will be held on Thursday morning at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
