Bridgewater- Thomas "Buppy" Smith, a resident of Bridgewater since 1965, died Nov. 10, 2007, at Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home. He was 86.
Born in Inverness, Nova Scotia, Canada, a son of the late David I. and Bertha E. (Taylor), he was raised in Weymouth Landing and was a graduate of Weymouth Trade School.
He worked for many years as a machinist at the Fore River Ship Yard in Quincy.
After retiring, he owned the Quincy Garden Flower Shop in West Bridgewater with his wife for many years.
He was a member of Ultria at St. Ann's Church, West Bridgewater.
He was a very knowledgeable man, who enjoyed conversation about almost any subject. He was a friend of Bills for 46 years.
He was the husband of Bernadette (Desnoyers); father of Carol Kneeland and her husband James of Bridgewater. Also survived by four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Oliver, Bertram, Howard, Oliver, George, Louie, Milton and Clarence.
Funeral from the Prophett funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, on Thursday at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Prospect Cemetery, Bridgewater. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
