Gabrielle E. Gagnon, 96, died November 14, 2007 at a local nursing home following a period of declining health.
She was born on September 24, 1911 in Manchester, the daughter of Edouard and Adelina (Martel) Gagnon. She was the youngest of eight children, four brothers and three sisters. Gaby grew up on a farm in Auburn and went to school at the Auburn Village School.
She worked at Manchester Knitting Fashions (MKF), also known as Pandora, most of her life prior to retirement in 1973.
She was a parishioner of the former St. Anne Parish and also a member of Society of Ladies of Sainte Anne.
She enjoyed dancing and going to the Carousel Ballroom and the Bedford Grove with her nieces. She also enjoyed being with her family, babysitting her many nieces and nephews and entertaining them with her stories and singing.
Prior to entering Mount Carmel, she resided at the Carpenter Center where she was the oldest resident and also the resident that had been there the longest.
Members of her family include several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday November 17, 2007 at 2 pm in the nursing home chapel. Burial was in St Augustin Cemetery.
