Obituary

Rose E. Schmitt, passed away peacefully at the Winchester Nursing Center, on November 10, at the age of 85, she was the wife of the late Lawrence C. Schmitt who died in October of this year.

Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Monahan) and Albert Doherty. Rose met her husbnd while he was stationed at the Boston Coast Guard Station during World War ll. They settled in Woburn in 1966 where they became active parishioners at St. Barbara´s Parish. Rose was a very generous person and always willing to offer her help to others, She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and traveling with her husband. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and loved to be with them.

Surviving is her son Jerry Schmitt and his wife Mary Anne of Hingham, four loving grandchildren; Michael, Colleen, Timothy and Caroline. She was predeceased by her sisters, Alice Starr, Mary Monahan, and Katherine Hughes.

Rose’s funeral will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, on Staurday, November 17, at 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30. Services will conclude with burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Hingham.
