WORCESTER__Joseph R. Pezzella, 94, formerly of 31 Beverly Hill Dr, Shrewsbury, died Friday, November 9 2007 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Ave North. Mr. Pezzella spent the last 2 ½ years of his life as a resident of the University Commons Nursing Center in Worcester.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rose M. (Pasquerella) Pezzella, two daughters, Diane Pezzella and Barbara Lewis, and her husband, Michael of Shrewsbury; beloved grandchildren, Alicia, Jesse, Andrew, Kimberly and Kelley; a sister, Ann Carroll and a brother, Anthony (Bashat) Pezzella and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Patsy and a sister, Jennie Cicio.
In his earlier years, Joe ran the Italian American Canteen on Shrewsbury St, and then became owner of the 1880 Club in Westborough.
The funeral will be held on Friday November 16 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry Street. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday November 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
