Obituary

Zelda (Oretsky) Walk, 85, a lifelong resident of Chelsea entered into rest on November 12, 2007 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Walk.

Born in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Abraham & Ida (Kaplan) Oretsky, Mrs. Walk was raised & educated in Chelsea where she was a magna cum laude graduate of Chelsea High School Class of 1939. She dedicated her life to raising her family. In the 1960's – 1980's, Mrs. Walk was employed as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in Boston. She was a life member of the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, the Sisterhood of Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea, & a life member of Congregation Agudos Shalom – Walnut St. Synagogue in Chelsea. Her hobbies included knitting & reading.

Mrs. Walk is survived by 3 children, Arlene Tolin & her husband Gerald of Woodbridge, VA, Debra Walk of Malden, & Harvey Walk of Chelsea. She was the loving grandmother of Andrew, Lawrence, Michael, Lisa, Lauren, & Emily and the cherished great-grandmother of Isabella. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Celia Lurie & Esther Wine.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the New Tifereth Israel of Everett Cemetery, 232 Fuller St. EVERETT. Rabbi Nochum Cywiak of Congregation Agudos Shalom & Congregation Ahavas Achim Anshe Sfard will officiate. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Debra Walk through Friday afternoon. Those wishing to remember Mrs. Walk may do so through memorial donations to a charity of one's own choosing. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Torf Funeral Service of Chelsea.
