Obituary

PRISCO, JOAN L., (nee Saglimbene), 72, of Manahawkin, NJ formerly of Ringwood, NJ passed to the loving care of God on Friday, November 09, 2007 at home, after a battle with cancer for more than 18 years. Joan was born August 17, 1935, in Warren, PA to Lena and Philip Saglimbene, and spent much of her younger years in Warren.

A graduate of Warren High School in Warren, PA, she continued her education and received her bachelors degree from Villa Maria College in Erie, PA., and her master’s degree from New York University. Joan’s career in education began as a teacher at Panama City High School in New York. Then she went on to be the Executive Secretary to President of the Julliard School of Music in New York City. After raising a family, she taught for a short time in the Cliffside Park school system, followed by a long career at Berkeley College, as a teacher and Dean.

Joan was united in marriage to Fred Prisco on April 30, 1966. To this union, they were blessed with three sons, Fred, Philip and step-son Richard. They made their home in North Bergen for 6 years after which they moved to Ringwood, NJ in 1972 where they resided until 1996, when they moved to Manahawkin.

Joan was predeceased by her father and mother, Philip and Lena (Cardman) Saglimbene of Warren, PA., and her son Philip in 1987. She is survived by her caring and devoted husband of 42 years Fred Prisco of Manahawkin, NJ; her loving son Fred Prisco, of Manahawkin; her loving step-son Richard Prisco and his wife, Elizabeth of Teaneck, NJ; two loving grandchildren, Richard and Alyssa Prisco; her loving sister Carol Simeral of Nutley, NJ; her loving brother-in-law Anthony Prisco and his wife Darlene of Toms River, NJ; seven nieces and nephews; and many caring cousins in Warren and Erie, PA.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ 07649. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 305 Elm Street, Oradell, NJ 07649. Interment will be in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, New York immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to the American Cancer Society – Breast Cancer Research, 801 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702.
