Florence (Gomes) Green, 88, of New Bedford died November 9, 2007 at Taber Nursing and Rehab Center after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Binford C. Green.
Born in East Freetown, the daughter of the late Manuel and Joaquina (DePina) Gomes, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was an active member of the International Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed attending church functions.
Mrs. Green was formerly employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber for many years until retirement. She later was employed as a hairdresser.
She enjoyed shopping.
Survivors include a son, Paul Green, and his wife Robin, of New Bedford; two sisters, Mary Gonsalves of New Bedford, and Minnie Parker, and her husband Leonard, of Portsmouth, RI; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Branco of East Freetown; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Turner of Cleveland, OH, Mildred Echols of Detriot, MI and Angelina Costa of New Bedford; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Jacobs, Sr. of Huntsville, AL; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late John W. Branco, and sister of the late Benvinda Offley and Charles Costa.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 10 AM in the International Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, November 13th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
