Irene Y. McDonald, 63, of Gaulin Ave., Woonsocket, died Wednesday at Landmark Medical Center. She was the former wife of William J.C. McDonald of Woonsocket.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of David Desjardins, of Florida, and Yvonne (Leclair) Derosiers, of Florida. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. McDonald was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.
In recent years she devoted much of her time to caring for the special needs of her grandson, Edmond LaCroix.
She is survived by 6 daughters, Lisa Arcand, Donna Jodoin, and Debra Glaude, all of Woonsocket, Tina Bothwell, of Texas, Hope Bunnell, of Blackstone, and Kimberly Owens, of Warwick. She was the sister of David and George Desjardins, of Woonsocket, Robert Desjardins, of ME, Norbert Desjardins, of Burrillville, Michael Desjardins, of FL., Paul Desjardins, of Harrisville, and John Derosiers, of Woonsocket, Betty Cote, of FL., Susan Remillard, and Cecile Desjardins, both of Woonsocket. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be Monday at 9:00 am from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Burial will be at a later date in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7 pm. At the request of the family, please omit flowers.
