Mary Anne Lavelle Petritus, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died Tuesday evening at Community Medical Center.
Daughter of the late James "Pat" and Helen Borys Lavelle, she attended St. Michael the Archangel Grade School, Olyphant, and St. Patrick's High School, Olyphant, and was a graduate of Lackawanna Junior College. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and its choir. She also played active roles in both the Professional Secretaries Organization and the Polish Women's Alliance of America. She was employed by Allied Rehab Hospital, Scranton.
Mary Anne was a person who gave of herself to many without asking for anything in return. Those whose lives she touched were truly blessed. She enjoyed a variety of activities, including cooking, reading, crossword puzzles and watching her favorite sports teams. Her loss will be felt by her family and friends but they can take solace in knowing that she is at peace in the comfort of eternal life.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia M. Petritus, Horsham; three brothers, James, South Gibson; Michael, Olyphant; and attorney Paul and wife, Sue, Metairie, La.; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., Willow and Grant streets, Olyphant, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church. Interment, parish cemetery.
