Obituary


Samuel Steinhauer of Dedham, formerly of Springfield died suddenly on Monday, November 5th, 2007 at Caritas Norwood Hospital. He was 86 years old. Born in Russia, he was the son of the late Heinrich and Emilie Steinhauer. Mr. Steinhauer worked as a chemist for Merck Pharmaceutical in Germany, before immigrating to the United States in 1956. He settled with his family in Springfield MA and worked for Monasanto Chemical Company in Springfield. He retired from Monsanto after many years of service. For the last 12 years, Mr. Steinhauer lived in Dedham with his wife of 58 years, Marie, who predeceased him in 2006. An accomplished Violinist, he played with the Parkway Symphony and Massassoit Senior Orchestra. The beloved husband of the late Marie (Horneff) Steinhauer, he leaves his daughters, Emilie and her husband Stanley Hitron of Needham and Edith and her husband Jacob Kagan of Newton Center. He was the brother of Hulda Steinhauer of Germany. Dear and devoted grandfather of Matthew Hitron, Ingrid Lombardino. Elise Hitron, Joseph and Rachel Kagan. Samuel is also survived by his great granddaughter Aneliese Hitron. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church 858 Great Plain Ave Needham on Thursday Nov. 8th at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
