WORCESTER-Richard E. McGrail, 76, of Worcester, died Tuesday, November 6th, in Knollwood Nursing Center. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Barbara M. (Whalen) McGrail; a son, Richard E. McGrail of Worcester; and his cat Blackie.
He was born in Worcester, the son of John and Christine (Ennis) McGrail and graduated from South High School and the College of the Holy Cross. He later received a master’s degree from Worcester State College and a psychology degree from Assumption College. Mr. McGrail was a teacher at the former Webster Academy and later at the Webster Public Schools, where he worked from 1969 until retiring in 1996 as a guidance counselor. A devout Catholic, he was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and enjoyed traveling and photography. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent Hospital and Knollwood Nursing Center for the care Richard received.
The funeral is Friday, November 9th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 8th, in the funeral home.
