GLOUCESTER: Derek W. Doucette, 38, of 85 Prospect Street died unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, November 4, 2007.
Born in Stoneham on February 25, 1969, he was the son of Patricia (Whitney) Rivers Doucette and the late Harry J. Rivers. He was a graduate of the Essex Agricultural School and attended the North Shore Community College. He was proud to have attended the U.S. Marine Corps boot camp in Parris Island, South Carolina, but was unable to complete the program due to a medical discharge.
He had been a resident of Maine for nine years prior to returning to Gloucester in 1999. Derek had worked as a supervisor and dispatcher for Bisson’s Moving Company for eight years. Most recently he was employed by Ark Les Corporation.
He was a great music enthusiast and had an extensive collection of music. He also loved the ocean and was an avid New England sports fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, Gilbert W. Doucette, two children, Dakota and Alyssa Doucette, two sisters, Darcey M. Doucette and Darice A. Doucette, his maternal grandmother, Theresa Whitney, two nieces, Mya Doucette and Mariah Gauthier, his former spouse and mother of his children, Kristina (Gage) Doucette, close friends, John Sweet, Scott Morris and John Curcuru and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Doucette Family, c/o Darcey M. Doucette, P. O.
