Gladys H. Daskal, 97 died November 4, 2007 at Sentry Hill at York Harbor, York, ME. Mrs. Daskal was born in Greece on April 7, 1910. She was a former resident of Derry and Manchester, NH. She worked at various shoe factories in the Derry and Manchester area including Derry Shoe Co. She enjoyed gardening and loved to grow and sell her own flowers. She joined the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Manchester and enjoyed traveling around to numerous dance halls. In addition to her love of dancing and music, she was friend to all and readily extended her hospitality to any in need.
She is survived by two sons, Nicholas Daskal and his wife Laurie of Limerick, ME, George Daskal and his wife Joan of Derry, one daughter, Elizabeth MacRury of York, ME, four grandchildren, James Foster, Scott Foster, William Foster, Glen Daskal, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Daskal in 1956, by her daughter, Helen Foster and by her grandson, James Daskal.
The family greeted friends from 12:30 – 1:00pm on Thursday November 8, 2007 with a funeral service that began at 1:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
