Van Laarhoven and her husband Henry of Lakeville and James M. Callahan and his wife Denice of Brockton. Grandmother of Michelle, Dennis, Daniel and James Mann; Teah Savard; Barry, Shanny and Desa Elna Van Laarhoven; Jason and James “Jamie” Callahan, Jr. Great grandmother of Jason Callahan, Jr. and Caleb and Joshua Savard.
Funeral Service in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church 900 Main St. Brockton Tuesday at 11 am. The Rev. Michael Fruth will officiate. Visiting hours in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 2-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Elna’s memory may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Obituary
Mrs. Callahan died Friday afternoon at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton after a brief illness.
She was born in Hull daughter of the Oscar and Hannah (Kindberg) Arvidson and was a resident of Brockton for most of her life. She was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1937 and had recently attended her 65th class reunion. Mrs. Callahan was a homemaker in her own home.
Mrs. Callahan was a longtime member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and was very involved in church activities. She was a member of the Bible Study Group, Altar Committee, Sunshine Committee and Pastors Aid. She was also a longtime member of the Martha Guild. She was always available to help anyone in need.
In addition to her husband of 60 years she is survived by two daughters and a son, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one niece and one nephew.
She was the sister of the late Edmund Arvidson
