Mr. John A. Carriere of Medford 86, died on Saturday in Burlington following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Marie A. (Locicero) Carriere.
Born in Revere, son of the late Joseph and Lauretta (Liberto) Carriere, he is a graduate of Revere High School, class of 1939. He also attended M.I.T.
Mr. Carriere served during WWII as a sergeant in the Army. He worked in Network Staff operations for the former New England Telephone and later for Verizon. He is a member of the American Telephone Pioneers. Mr. Carriere enjoyed westerns on television, board games, crosswords and cracking corny jokes. He leaves 3 sons John Carriere and his wife Sara of Michigan, Stephen Carriere and his wife Patricia of Wakefield, Joseph Carriere and his wife Lorraine of Tewksbury, two daughters Joanne Belliveau and her husband David of Tewksbury, Michele Frey and her husband Michael of Burlington. Grandfather of 11 Grandchildren. Dear brother of Mary Broderick of North Andover, Victor Carriere of CT. and Joseph Carriere of Revere. Brother of the late Peter, Alphonse and Andy Carriere and Nancy DeMatteis. Funeral from Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Wednesday at 9 am followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 3-7pm. It has been requested that contributions in John’s name be sent to the New England Home For Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Avenue, Boston MA. 02115. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
