Mary S. (Stuart) Smith, 100, passed away on November 3rd, 2007 at the Wilmington Health Care Center. She was born on November 16th, 1906 to her parents George W. and Katherine (McGeough) Stuart. Mary was raised and educated in Brighton. She is a graduate of Boston University where she earned a degree in Business. As a young woman she worked for Little, Brown and Company in Boston. She has been a resident of Malden for the past 72 years. Mary was a former member of the Junior Aid Society at the Malden Hospital; the Malden Garden Club; the friends of the Malden Public Library and the League of Women Voters. She has been a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden for the past 72 years. Mary was the beloved wife of the late William T. Smith. She is survived by her children; Anne Tobin and her husband William of Holliston; Mary Jane Santo and her husband Richard of Malden; and Richard Smith and his wife Irene of Ovido, FL. She is also survived by 12 grandsons, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her brothers George and Joseph Stuart. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral Home on Tuesday Nov. 6th from 3-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday, Nov. 7th at 10:30 AM followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
