Daniel R. Leite, 90, of Kingston, NH, died Thursday, November 1, 2007 in the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Mr. Leite was born in Onset, MA on April 7, 1917, a son of the late John B. and Julianna (Roderick) Leite. He was a resident of Kingston for the past 16 years, formerly living in Chester, NH. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytech, and Petersons School of Engineering, and attended MIT. Mr. Leite was a US Coast Guard and Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was employed as a mechanical engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bureau of Building and Construction, as well as a Nuclear Power Plant Senior Supervising Engineer. He had also been employed by the State of NH Water Supply and Pollution Control. Mr. Leite was a member of the DAV, the Masonic Temple, the Shriners and the Senior Citizens of Chester. He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen L. Beres and her husband William of Middleton, NH; two grandsons, Daniel R. Beattie and his wife Karen of Owego, NY, and Darren L. Beattie and his wife Christine of Goffstown, NH; two great-granddaughters, Sarah M. Beattie and Hannah G. Beattie both of Goffstown; his brother, August Leite of San Francisco, CA; his sister in law, Mary Leite of Fairhaven, MA; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and his close friend, Ethel Menard. He was predeceased by his wife, Justa "Jessie" Leite in 2000.
Calling hours were on Monday, November 5th from 4 - 5 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry with cremation following.
