Helen D. Lavelle, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died Thursday morning at CMC. She was preceded in death by her husband James “Pat” Lavelle.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Cabaj Borys. She attended St. Michael the Archangel Grade School, Olyphant High School and was a graduate of Madame Sadonia’s Beauty School of Culture. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Olyphant, a past president of its Altar and Rosary Society and a member of its choir. She was also a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance of America.
Helen’s pride and joy was her family, who will always remember her as a loving and caring individual. She enjoyed many activities, including cooking, baking, crocheting, gardening and playing cards. May she be at peace in the comfort of eternal life and may those who knew and loved her be blessed with the fond memories of the good times that they shared.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Anne Lavelle Petritus, Olyphant and three sons, James, South Gibson, Michael, Olyphant and Attorney Paul and wife, Sue, Metairie, LA; one sister, Josephine Borys, Olyphant; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Vadella, Blanche Obrzut, Stella Kraynak and Julie Gardosky and three brothers, Stanley, Michael and Joseph Borys.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 9:00am from the Michael P.Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., Willow and Grant Streets, Olyphant, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Thomas Muldowney at 9:30AM in St. Michael the Archangel Church. Interment, parish cemetery.
