Alice B. Spellman, formerly of 35 Hadley Court, Noank died on Thursday at Mystic Manor Rehabilitation and Convalescent Center where she had resided for the last few years.
Mrs. Spellman was born in Springfield Massachusetts, the daughter of Helen Bradford and James A. Sullivan.
She married Howard Alden Spellman on January 2nd, 1953. He predeceased her.
Mrs. Spellman was a founding member of the Noank Historical Society and a communicant of St. Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton where she served in the church choir.
She had a lovely voice and was an avid gardener. She also enjoyed painting in the oil mediums where she had developed a great style. She was a direct descendant of Governor Bradford of Plymouth Plantation.
She is survived by her brother Dr. Gerald Collins of Seattle, Washington, a sister, Sr. Mary de Paul Powell of Holyoke, Mass., a niece Carol Conlan of Cincinnati, Ohio and by her dear friends, William and Maria Teresa Walker of Noank.
Alice's Service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday at 11am. All are invited to attend.
Burial will follow at the Noank Valley Cemetery. There is no visitation.
