Mary P. “Mae” (Oliveira) Medeiros, age 84 of 444 Wilbur Ave., formerly of 128 Thelma Ave., Somerset. Wife of Leonel S. Medeiros. Daughter of the late Jose A. & Maria (Marques) Oliveira. Passed away in East Providence, RI. Born in Fall River. She was a lifelong Somerset resident. She was a member of St. John of God Church. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Circle Daughters of Isabella of Somerset, the Hyacinth Circle Daughters of Isabella of Dartmouth, the St. John of God Church Women’s Guild, the Somerset Council Portuguese American Civic League and the Holy Rosary Society of St. John of God Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister. Before retiring, she was manager of former Weintraubs Store in Somerset from 1965-1975. She was a member of the 1st graduating class of Somerset High School.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children: Richard J. Medeiros & wife Kathleen, Diane M. Bromberg & husband William all of Warwick, RI, Sandra L. Shrader & husband Robert of Fall River, MA, & Paul B. Medeiros & wife Lynn of Louisville, KY. 9 grandchildren: Jessica Medeiros, Patricia Zavras, Eric, Jared & Gregory Bromberg, Daniel & Allison Shrader, Derek & David Medeiros. 3 great grandchildren: Lucas Roberts, Lilyan Rose & Kalista Zavras. She was also sister of the late Joaquin “Jack”, William “Bill” & Acacio “Kaz” Oliveira, & Laura Jolivet.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. on Monday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. John of God Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours Sunday 3-7 P.M.
