Obituary

WORCESTER-Olga E. (Stavre) Chomo, of 11 Marble Street, died Werdnesday, January 1st, in UMass-Memorial Healthcare, Memorial Campus. Her husband Metre A. Chomo died in 1968. She leaves 3 sons; Anthony R. Chomo of Simi Valley, CA, Phillip R. Chomo of Westboro and Steven G. Chomo of Holden, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. A brother Dennis Stevens of West Boylston, a sister Dora Lavin of Auburn and a grandson Francis Chomo of Southbridge predeceased her.

She was born in Korce, Albania the daughter of George and Victoria (Naum) Stavre, emigrating to the United States in 1926. Mrs. Chomo was a graduate of the David Hale Fanning Trade School. She had been a sales person for many years at the former Marcus Company. She was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, Daughter’s of St. Mary’s, Belle’s of St. Mary’s. Mrs. Chomo was a charter member of St. Mary’s Woman Guild and served as it’s first president.

The funeral will be Monday, January 6th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, January 5th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. A trisagion service will be held Sunday, January 5th at 5:00 PM in the funeral home. Please omit flowers and make contributions to either St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or to the New England Center for Children, 33 Turnpike Road, Southboro, MA 01772.
