Debra Kay Sterling Rue, age 45, passed away on October 30, 2007 at Yalobusha County General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. She was born on December 1, 1961, in Jonesboro, AR to Malcolm L. and Wanda Gilmore Sterling.
She was an active member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church of Water Valley where she served as a teacher in Missions Friends and G.A.’s classes. Debra was a dedicated Band Boosters Club member and was a familiar sight for many years at the concession stand for Friday night football games. Debra often accompanied her husband Bobby, as he drove his 18-wheeler across the United States. They took their son, John, whenever possible to create family vacations and to see the country.
Visitation for Debra Rue will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. The service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2007 at Sylva Rena Baptist Church on Highway 32 West in Yalobusha County with Bro. Calvin Miller and Bro. James West officiating. Burial will be at Sylva Rena Cemetery near the church. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Don Simoneaux, Victor Steen, Bill Norris, Richard Walker, Chris Pullen, and Lee Pullen. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Jennings, Alex Sterling, Jimmy Goodson, II, Jimmy Brandstatt, Tim Ritter, and Matthew Stone.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Rue of Water Valley, MS; one son, John M. Rue of Water Valley; three sisters, Linda Ritter of Jonesboro, AR, Kathy Colbert of Robinsonville, MS, and Tammy Brandstatt of Rush Springs, OK; one brother, Gary Sterling of Paragould, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends.
