Ernest U. Walbourne, Jr. 85 years of Brockton died unexpectedly Monday October 29, 2007 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Dorothea G. (Carodonis) Walbourne. Mr. Walnourne was born in Brockton a son of the late A. Beatrice (Bergeron) and Ernest U. Walbourne. He was a graduate of Brockton High School and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
During WW II he served as a Staff Sergeant with the US Army in England, France and Germany. In 1982 he retired from the Brockton fire department after 31 years as a fire fighter. Mr. Walbourne had also owned the E&D Construction Company in Brockton.
He loved to travel and enjoyed summers at Popponesset Beach.
He was the brother Robert Walbourne of Centerville, Richard Walbourne of Brockton, Marion Cole of Brockton and the late Doris Harper. He also leaves six nieces and nephews and his special friends Sheila and Richard Rhodes of N. Easton.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne at 11 am. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 pm.
