Joseph P. Butler of Dedham died October 29, 2007 at the Highgate Manor Nursing Home in Dedham. He was 86. He was the beloved husband of Mary P. (McGeough) Butler.
Born in Dedham he was the son of the late Patrick and Catherine (McKeon) Butler. A World War II, U.S. Army Veteran, he was a manager for the John Hancock Insurance Co. He was a member of the Dedham V.F.W. and the Mt. Pleasant Knights of Columbus in West Roxbury.
He was the devoted father of Paul F. Butler and his wife Susan of Holly Springs, NC and Maureen Quinlan and her husband Daniel of Cincinnati, OH. Grandfather of Todd Butler and Melissa Quinlan. Brother of Pauline Watson of Milton, Catherine Quinn of Alexandria, VA and Elizabeth LeBlanc of Burlington. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham, Saturday at 8:00 AM with a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham, at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 3-7 PM. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Jimmy Fund, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.
