Whitman
Joseph Mula, 92 a resident of Whitman,for 35 years, died Monday October 29th, in the Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of Edith (Dilorenzo) Mula. He was born in Italy, son of the late Charles and Maria (Infantino) Mula. Joseph at the age of 5 immigrated with his mother to Ellis Island. He attended Quincy Schools. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer, of the United States Navy, and a meteorologist, he served for 25years. After retiring from the service, he was employed by the Rockland D.P.W. Joseph enjoyed dancing, gardening, was an avid reader and known for his dry wit and humor, he was also known as reliable” Mr. Fix It”. He loved spending time with his grand and great grand children. In addition to his wife of 72 years Edith, he is survived by 3 daughters, Marie Connolly of Rockland,Janice Leaman of Whitman and Joreen Benbenek and her husband Philip of Marshfield, brother of, Ann Cookerly of Florida and Virginia Greenup of Ohio; also 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held Friday November 2nd at 9:15 A. M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc, Plymouth Street (Rt 58 at the Rotary Circle), Whitman, MA. , followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery Whitman, MA.Visiting hours Thursday November 1st 6-8 P.M.
