Dorothy Mae Rooney, 84 years old, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 19, 2007 at her home in Reisterstown, MD.
Born July 4, 1923in Medford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Francis Harold Wolfe and Mary Jane Slaney Wolfe of Salem, NH. She was the devoted and beloved wife for 56 years of James Albert Rooney.
With her sense of adventure and duty, Mrs. Rooney served honorably with the US Coast Guard during World War II. She was an avid reader of mystery books and loved animals. She was also a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish in Glyndon, MD
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children: James Francis Rooney and his wife Julie of Portola Valley, California, Madeleine Rooney and her friend Anita Holloway of Chicago, Illinois, and Thomas Rooney of Westminster, Maryland. She is the cherished grandmother of James William, Zachary, Marcus, and Abigail Rooney; Sister in Law: Gertrude Wolfe of Salem, NH, and is survived by a number of nieces, nephews & close friends. She was predeceased by her 3 siblings, Madeline Moberg, and Francis & Harold Wolfe.
She was dearly loved, will be greatly missed, and her memory will be always treasured.
At her request, she was cremated in Maryland. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9-11 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH.
