Monteal Gibbs Coker, 74, of Enigma died Monday, October 29, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Elder Edward McIntyre will officiate with burial to follow in Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County. Pallbearers will be Richard Gibbs, Hal McMillian, Wayne Aultman, Bobby Swails, Ralph Rowell and Kim Dukes. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 31, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Coker was born on February 7, 1933 in Tift County and was the daughter of Jake Gibbs and Theta Barnes Gibbs, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Marion Pope. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and was employed in the Emergency Room of Tift General Hospital for 21 years and then at the Berrien County Health Department. She had lived in Berrien County since 1967.
Ms. Coker is survived by one son, Jake L. Coker of Enigma; one daughter, Theta Jane Coker of Trenton, South Carolina; one sister, Thelma Swails of Enigma; and three grandchildren, Will Hill, Kent Hill and Harley Funderburk.
