Mary W. (Kennedy) Flaherty, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Friday October 26, 2007 at Marian Manor Nursing Home in South Boston after an extended illness. She was 101 years old.
Mary was born in Boston on August 25, 1906. She attended Boston Public Schools. Mary worked as a receptionist at Boston Sand & Gravel Company in Charlestown for many years.
Mary is the beloved wife of the late Peter T. Flaherty. She is the devoted mother of Vita Shea and Patricia Flaherty both of Charlestown and the late Peter Flaherty, Theresa Wrenn and David Flaherty. She is the loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late John Kennedy and Esther Frustaglia. She is the aunt of Frannie Nee of South Boston.
Mary's Funeral will be held on Saturday November 3, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Catherine's Church, 49 Vine St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Mary will be on Friday, November 2, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
