Paul A. Grimley, 76, of New Bedford died Wednesday January 1, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Dorothy L. (Barker) Grimley.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Mary (Hamilton) Grimley, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Grimley was formerly employed by Morse Cutting Tools for 32 years until his retirement in 1990.
During World War II, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served aboard the USS San Pabio. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 2 stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 stars and the American Area Ribbon. He was a member of the Andrew-Dahill Post 1531 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include 3 brothers, Arthur Grimley of New Bedford, Robert Grimley of Fairhaven, and William Grimley of Altadena, California; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Harry Grimley, Raymond Grimley, Leonard Grimley, and Rita DeLacour.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday January 3, 2003 at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday January 2, 2003 from 4-7 PM.
