New Bedford, MA-Lillian C. (La Freniere) Fernandes aged 56 years died Thursday October 18, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Lionel “Leo” Fernandes of New Bedford. She was mother of Kathleen Edwards of Quincy, and Michael Edwards of New Bedford. She was the grandmother of Brian Edwards of New Bedford. She was the sister of Doris O'Mara of Barefoot Bay, FL., John L. La Freniere, and Donald L. La Freniere both of New Bedford. She is also survived by several nieces, and grandnephews.
Mrs. Fernandes was the daughter of the late Manuel Cardoza and Elizabeth (Wilson) La Freniere. She was a life long resident. She was a Ward Secretary at St. Luke’s Hospital for 20 years. She was a former member of New Bedford Whaling City Bowling League.
In accordance with her wishes she was cremated.
Mrs. Fernandes’s funeral service will be Wednesday October 31, 2007 at 10 A.M. at Sacred Heart Cemetery #2
