DUDLEY - Henry L. Sroczynski, 74, of 57 New Boston Road, died Thursday, October 25, in Hubbard Regional Hospital due to complications from Kennedy’s Disease.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Pauline M. (Kozlowski) Sroczynski; two daughters, Joyce A., wife of Timothy J. Gergich of Slingerlands, NY, and Elaine E., wife of James A. Norowski of Dudley; five grandchildren, Natalie and Haley Gergich and Benjamin, Aaron and Rebecca Norowski; a nephew and three nieces.
He was born in Webster, the son of Leo A. and Elizabeth R. (Czernicki) Sroczynski. He graduated from Bartlett High School and completed his teacher training at Fitchburgh State College and Westfield State College. He was an Air Force Veteran, serving from 1957 to 1961.
Mr. Sroczynski was a carpentry instructor, first at Bartlett Vocational High School in Webster for 14 years and then at Bay Path Technical Vocational High School in Charlton for 21 years, retiring in 1993. In his retirement, he was substitute teacher at Bay Path for ten years. He oversaw the construction of several houses in the area. He also built his own home.
Mr. Sroczynski was a communicant of St. Andrew Bobola Church, where he was a collector for many years. He volunteered for the annual parish festival and was chairman for several years. He also called the numbers for the church’s weekly bingo games. He was a member of the Retired Mass. Teacher’s Association and was a former member of the Webster-Dudley American Legion Post #184. He enjoyed wood working, vacationing near the water, and spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday, October 29, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Calling hours are from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, October 28, at the funeral home.
