Robert T. Cushman 82, died peacefully Thursday October 25th in Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Skinner) Cushman.
Born in Brockton he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Velma (Litchfield) Cushman.
He was raised in Whitman where he resided all his life before moving to Plimpton in 1974, and was a graduate of Whitman High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II having served from 1942 -1946, and a past commander and financial officer of the American Legion Post 22 of Whitman.
Robert attended A&M University of Oklahoma and worked as a pipe designer for Stone & Webster in Boston for 20 years. He was also the owner & operator of Cushman’s Bakery in Whitman for 10 years.
He loved woodworking and boating.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Robert B. Cushman of Wareham and Elizabeth (Cushman) DiGiorgio, and her husband James of Pembroke, his grandchildren Lindsey and Michael DiGiorgio. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joel Cushman.
His funeral service will be held Monday October 29th at 11:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte 58 @ the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Sunday October 28th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
