John F. Synan Jr.

Unionville, CT - John F. Synan Jr., age 43, a well known former resident of Tewksbury, died Wednesday morning, October 24, at the U-Conn Medical Center, in Farmington, CT, following a brief illness.
He was born in Lowell on September 19, 1964, a son of Susan D. (Granfield) Synan of Tewksbury, and the late John F. Synan, who died in 2003. He lived in Tewksbury until moving to New Horizons Village in Unionville, Connecticut three years ago.
John was well known in the Tewksbury school system, where he served as manager for several sports teams. He excelled with his organizational skills in spite of his physical challenges. He graduated Tewksbury Memorial High School with the Class of 1983, and attended U-Lowell and Middlesex Community College. He would later be active in town politics, especially during the campaign seasons when he worked tirelessly for the election of his many friends.
He was a lifelong member of the St. William's Church community, and was a member of the Tewksbury Knights of Columbus, Fr. Coppen's Council 4336. Since moving to New Horizons Village, he maintained his active pace as an organizer at several New Horizons ongoing events and functions.
Prior to moving to Connecticut, John worked in the Customer Service Department for DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical company in Billerica.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a sister, Cathy Synan-Loiselle of Tewksbury, a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Donna (Boucher) Synan of Maynard; four nieces and nephews, Catherine and Andrew Loiselle, Julia and Sarah Synan; his aunts and uncles, Thomas and Linda Synan of Quincy, James and Barbara Synan of Somerville, Elizabeth Synan of Seabrook, Thomas Granfield of Nashua, NH, Michael and Shirley Granfield of Billerica, Chester and Patricia Drake of Townsend; many cousins, and dear friends.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Oct. 27, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Mass. Spina Bifida Assoc., 733 Turnpike St, Unit 282, No. Andover, MA 01845 or the Tenant's Assoc. of New Horizons Village, 37 Bliss Road, Unionville, CT 06085, will be appreciated.
