Joseph P. Connolly, 82

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Joseph P. Connolly, 82, of Mansfield died on Tuesday October 23, 2007 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (McDonough) Connolly.
Born in Charlestown, MA on March 18, 1925 he was a son of the late Mark and Bridget (Carroll) Connolly.
He grew up and was educated in Charlestown and was a graduate of Commerce High School in Boston. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Tec 5. Following his discharge he began a career as a Longshoreman working for Local 799 ILA-Port of Boston. He worked for Local 799 for over 40 years prior to retirement.
Joe was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield since living in Mansfield for the past 10 years. He had formerly made his home in Ireland and was also a longtime resident of Norwood and Charlestown. He enjoyed both Irish and Bluegrass music and was always happiest when spending time with his adoring family.
He was the loving brother of Mary T. Sullivan and her husband John of South Weymouth and the late Mark Connolly and James Connolly. Also surviving are his many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday October 27th at 10:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Military honors will follow performed by the United States Army. Burial is private.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 26th from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
