WORCESTER__Leonce L. Duquette, 91, of Worcester, died Monday October 22 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Gabrielle T. (Chartier) Duquette, two sons, Daniel A. Duquette of Escondido, CA., and Thomas J. Duquette of Worcester; five daughters, Melanie R. Duquette, Adele J. Duquette, Ruth I. Duquette and Justine E. Abdow all of Worcester; and Barbara E. Kelleher of Leicester; two grandchildren, David Abdow and Alyssa Kelleher. He was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude and Jeanne Duquette. He was born in Southbridge, a son of J. Albert and Rosanna (Julien) Duquette and has lived in Worcester for 50 years.
Mr. Duquette was a printer 20 years for the Providence Journal. He retired many years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served as a Corporal in the Asiatic Pacific theater. Leonce received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Adminstration from Bryant College in 1949. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and served there as a lector and acolyte. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Leonce was a quiet man who enjoyed serving his church and playing the violin.
The funeral will be held on Friday October 26 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday October 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted and ask that Masses be offered in his memory.
